changing vacuum pump

Can someone tell me what is involved in changing the vacuum pump on my diesel. Is this a gear to gear connection and is there a timing thing with the gears? What else is to this.

I just went through the fuel system , brake system , diesel engine section , steering section , then did a search . I couldn't find anything and the search came back with nothing . Sorry I tried . And that was with the factory shop manual .

my manual reads "pull the vacuum pump & power steering pump to the rear to disengage the vacuum pump drive gear from the timing gear". Hope that helps?

The vaccum pump may be the power steering pump. A lot of older turbo cars were run that way...I believe Grand Nationals were...for instance.

Not sure about turbo diesels...but maybe that'll help your search?
