CAI opinions

Hey yall! :wavey:

Hopefully this will be my last CAI discussion untill the install pics.

My question is, is it really that big of a difference between the k&n 57 series and the 77 series? Im getting one or the other but im wanting the best possible choice. Any and all input and opinions are welcome.

Thanks everybody.

Here's what I just read:

The 57 series offers a 14.27hp gain and is plastic (better heat protection) and CARB approved. The 57 series is also cheaper in price.

The 77 series offers only a 11.63hp gain and is metal (worse for heat protection) and is NOT CARB approved. The 77 series is more expensive.

So basically, the 77 is better lookin and that about it lol

Thats what i was thinkin but i just wanted to be sure. Thanks a lot man, reps for you when i can.

You have a throttle body spacer right? Did you have that before or after or at the same time as the CAI? Now im curious if its worth getting one and installing it while im already right there.

probably not what you are interested in doing but i have had the same results as a cai by using the airaid modular intake tube with a high flow filter and stock airbox opened up quite a bit on the bottom. with the money saved by this route, you can get a throttle body spacer.

I like the K&N but after a lot of review nad history of my other vehicles I went with a Volant. Not as pretty under the hood especially since there is no chrome. Cost a little more but no heat transfer and maybe a couple more HP. A Dyno showed a 23hp gain on a ford I saw in a video. My Trailblazer was right at 20, but I also put in LS1 Corvette Fans. I should get my Volant for the Ram in about a week.

Yeah, I have one. I had it installed at the same time as the intake (more convenient) I can't really speak for any gains from just it alone, but I like the sound, it doesn't bother me.
