Any Residential A/C guys out there . Need some advice .

Of course with some of the hottest days here . Had my A/C go out on Sunday morning . Compressor not coming on . Condensor fan comes on fine . From what I could come up with I suspected start capacitor for compressor . No parts houses open at all until Tuesday . Contacted electrician friend at work , he found one that should get me back up and going till I can get the correct one on Tuesday . Installed it Monday morning with success . At least it's somewhat cooling now . My next question is , I believe it may be low on charge . It's an older unit and I think it takes R-22 . On a 95-100 degree day what kind of pressures should I be looking for assuming the condensor and evaporator are clean and clear ? Thanks for your help . Tom

I can't answer your specific question, but when was the last time you had the whole unit serviced including cleaning and combing the fins on the unit outside? When they get bent which is very common it really hampers the units ability to exchange heat.

Does your unit not have a pressure and charge amount plate on it? My rheem does.
