2010 4.7l v8...need to know about exhausts!

im lookin to get a new exhaust for my 2010, id like it moderatley loud but im really looking for the performance benefits. i been looking at a
Single Cat Back Exhaust System Magnaflow 16867.
what can i expect to get out of this system. and i am also really open to alternatives...

I like the Magnaflow systems. Great sound, good flow. To really gain the benefits of a freer flowing exhaust, some work at the intake end to open up flow there will be needed.

You can expect better sound, freer flowing exhaust and a bit more upper RPM horsepower. Don't look for significant gains with an exhaust system by itself, though. It's part of the larger intake exhaust system.

Welcome to the forum. Take a moment to introduce yourself (and your truck with some pics!) in the Newbie Section.

I heard a Magnaflow on a truck like mine the other day and it sounds good. Now I'm torn between that and the Gibson...:4-dontknow:

Gibson is also good. Tough choice, eh Randy? :D

Yeah, I would have had a new muffler installed already but my other ride needed a new clutch and tires first.

I asked a similar question months ago and never really got an answer. I agree without you that the most important results is performance (most important to me is MPG) but almost all the actualy reviews are about how great this or that sounds. I know it's hard for people to do a comparison as most don't swap out and try difference exhaust system but I find it astonding how largely overlook this aspect seems to be since swapping the exhaust is regarded as a perfomance upgrade.

In short, I'd like to know as well. Best performing exhaust system or a part for part basis anyone. What I mean of course is you have to go apples to apples (catback vs. catback and not catback vs. muffler only or whole system with headers). Anyone have any idea?

Actual benefits are hard to quantify. Everyone drives differently in differing ambient conditions.

The best measure is a before and after dyno session and most exhaust manufacturers post this info on their websites specific to the application and generally for catback systems only.

There are other variables, of course, such as whether or not there is an intake mod (CAI) and any special programming.

For illustration purposes only, here's my dyno sheet with a stock hemi run and then the addition of a K&N drop in filter and a Predator programmer. I am pretty sure I am not yet realizing the full benefit of those mods until I add a true CAI to the truck.

The Magnaflow single in/dual out muffler was already on the truck when the stock run was done.

Cool, the blue is before and the green is after if I follow correctly?
