Quick Trans question...
Fairly new to the board, but have been surfing for a while and tons of great info here. Picked up a Black 2010 SLT Crew HEMI a few weeks ago. I love it (that's an understatement).
However, I made a pretty dumb assumption. I thought the shift selector feature was like the autostick feature in my 300M. I've read through a few posts now, and I'm realizing that it's more of a gear limiter. Is that correct?
As others have commented, for some reason the owners manuals that came with my 2010 (along with the useless DVD) really don't explain this feature at all,and I've been through all the materials a few times.
So, let's say I want to just stay in second - I pop that stick over the left and leave it in 2. But if I'm taking off from a stop, will it start in second or start in first and then shift to second and stay there? (I haven't really tested it yet).
In my 300M, I could just shift through the gears as I saw fit.
Also, the only time I played with it, the only way I could exit the feature was to tap it up to 5 and then back to D. In my 300M, I could simply slide the stick forward back into "D" to take it out of autostick mode.
Any help would be appreciated.
bear in mind your truck has a 545RFE and your 300 had a 42 series trans, so they aren't much alike. I'm pretty sure you can start off in first or second with the auto stick function. When you widh to go back into drive, move the stick to the upshift position and hold it there for a few seconds.
Sounds a lot like the A/S function in my SRT8.
Ok - that makes sense. I wasn't holding it forward long enough.
But will it start in whatever gear I select or does it run up through the gears until it gets to the selected gear? Again, I'll play with it later - it was just on my mind....
Thanks for the quick help...
It will start in 1st but will not shift higher than the number you have selected.
