Exhaust Dump

Are there any negatives to having my exhaust dump out just after the rear axle with no tip. It's a SI/SO Magnaflow w/ 3in piping after the muffler. Thinking about the "hidden" look. Is there a better place to have it dump?.... I'm just thinking if I dumped right out of the muffler there would be a lot more interior ressonance then there already is.

You definitely don't want to dump it right after the muffler. Too much noise. But behind the rear axle would work.

Being a former Md. State Inspector , you can dump your exhaust there as long as you don't have a cap on it . If a cap is on the vehicle the concern is it could catch carbon monoxide . Not a good thing .

hmm... not sure what a "cap" is???

As long at the exhaust tube is open at the end, no carbon monoxide worries is what he means.

If you run a cap the exhaust pipe must exit from under the vehicle . Heres a picture of a cap .

okay! Had no idea those were called "caps".

I'm not sure what Texas law is , but thats the way it was when I was inspecting cars here in Maryland .

I think they are fairly strict here when it comes to that stuff.
