Body Paint Question and help
My 98 ram has started to have a few spots rust on the box and was hoping to sand them down and apply some touch up paint, the problem is that the color on my truck is pretty rare and i don't know what the paint color number is. Im not planning on going to the dealership anytime soon so i was wondering if anyone new if the paint code was on the VIN number or a sticker somewhere on the truck. I looked under the hood and non of the numbers on the radiator cross member seem to be the right number, my truck is like a dark brown but slightly red like burgundy but not really lol, its hard to explain.

You could probably find the color code searching online for the colors of that year

EDIT: Found a page that shows colors for your year, which i assume is a '98 from your info

Paint code is on a sticker on the door. You can also call the dealer's body shop or parts counter and give them the VIN and they will give you the paint code.

another way, stop by most auto parts stores that mix paint, and most have a camera that will take a pic of the paint, and the computer calculates the exact formula. that way, even fading is taken into account.

I just looked at Duplicolors website and didn't see a color that color for 1998 . I've never seen a Ram that color . Are you sure thats a factory color ?

That doesn't look like a factory color to me. Assuming your avatar is a picture of your truck.
