A/C odor

Hello all,
I think there was a post about this previously, but I cant't find it. My A/C smells stale and musky, is there something I can do, has anyone else had this issue.
Thanks.

I know there were some issues . Randy would be the one to answer this . You don't have a leaky heater core by chance do ya ? Normally that would make your windows steam up .

No window steaming as of yet. Unknown about the heater core as of now.

TSB 24-006-06 addresses this problem.

SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
Some vehicle operators may experience a musty odor from the A/C system, primarily at
start up in hot and humid climates. This odor may be the result of microbial growth on the
cooling coil. During normal A/C system operation, condensation forms in and around the
A/C cooling coil. When airborne pollutants mix with this condensation, bacteria and fungi
growth begins and odor results.
DIAGNOSIS:
If the operator describes, or the technician experiences a musty odor when operating the
A/C system, perform the appropriate Repair Procedure based on the vehicle model.

Thanks Randy. I appreciate it.

Hi. I have this issue as well. My AC smells like a horse barn when I turn it on. I went to both Dodge dealers in town. One said spray lysol in the air intakes and let it circulate. So I did. No benefit. The other wasn't sure what to do but suggested I replace the evaporator which I will not do. Too expensive nor will it keep it from happening again. I also bought a deodorizer bomb that you put in the vehicle with the system running and the windows closed. It circluated for fifteen minutes. Took the smell away for a day but I think it just masked it more than anything else. Not sure what else to do other than having the evaporator removed and cleansed. Suggestions?
