cleaning the CTD engine

I was told you have to be careful cleaning these diesel engines, I was told you can't just spray on the engine degreaser and hose off like gasoline engines. So how do I keep my CTD nice and clean like the exterior of the truck is ?? This is my first diesel so I am un sure, someone did say it has to be completely cold in order to hose it down ?? Need some advise please.

Thank you,
Bobby A

Nice bump, Nick. I was originally watching this and lost track. Great catch, Bud!

I can't say I've ever heard of having issues with cleaning the cummins motor, your engine gets wet when you drive it in the rain, so what's the issue? Just keep the water away from the electronics, and you should be fine.
