Ahhh! The new place for 4.7L support

All,

Those of you, like me, with the slightly less supported V8 in the Dodge Ram category should appreciate filling in this forum. I hope this will alleviate the endless searching through all the "Hemi" rhetoric just to find a tidbit of 4.7L performance news or updates.

For performance related stuff, this may work well, but for most technical questions the mechanical/electrical question and problem sub forums are still the best place to go.

Agreed ^^^^, glad the 4.7's get some respect, too, lol! :)

I have a 2010 4.7 4500 miles. I'm only getting 11-13 mpg. Tried changing oil with synthetic blend, not much help. Any suggestions to get better MPG's?

The big three mods. CAI, exhaust and a programmer.

Any recommendations as to which ones are best? Won't that void my warranty?

If you're worried about voiding your warranty, go with the Mopar CAI. Exhaust usually doesn't cause any warranty trouble, but it's up to you. A programmer can definitely void your warranty if found to be the source of a problem. The DiabloSport and Superchips both have the option of tuning your vehicle back to stock when you take your truck in for service.

Nice to see the 4.7 get some respect. Had this engine in my 08 Dakota, they call it the mini HEMI. I had no issues with this engine it was just a bit too thirsty, my Dakota was much harder on gas then my HEMI.

Very helpful answers thx. Yes, I like the 4.7, but it is "thirsty". Hopefully it will get better with the above suggestions, I really appreciate the help!
