summit racing cat back.

anyone ever bought one of there cat back set ups before? i bought one a few days agao and it just showed up. i wanted something that would make a bit more power, looked good, but most important wasnt loud at all. i wanted it to sound nice just not be obnoxious.

first impressions is that it seems to be pretty decent for the $230 shipped to the door. i got the 3in single out cat back. wanted something low profile on the sound but wanted a little more power as well. although its not bolted up yet im really hoping that the install go's easily as far as fitment go's. muffler is the only part that looks kinda cheap cause its just a "turbo muffler" but other then that all the mandrel bends look very nice. going to cut a small slash in the tip of the tail pipe to try and add a little style. will be posting pics though the install and hopefully have them up by tomorrow.:smiley_thumbs_up:

well got it all done! had my 4yr old daughter helping me so it took alot longer then it should have but totally worth the time lol.. over all id say im happy with the cat back for the price. scale from 1-10 id give it a 7. score is based on price, looks, function, quality, sound and ease of "driveway" instillation. these kits fit longbed QC,shortbed QC,singlecab longbed and simgle cab shortbed. all you have to do is "cut to fit" the straight pipe the go's from the y pipe to the muffler. directions told you exactly how much to cut off for the chassis your putting it on, although they were off about 2in's on what they had on paper. glad i test fitted every thing before i made the cut.

couple things i dont like is the amount of clamps the systems use's but big deal lol. going to get a couple welds done on it and remove a couple clamps one thing that didnt fit period was the rear hanger thats pictured. had to drill a hole in the frame and mount it where i want but that really isnt a big deal either 10mins and it was done. tail pipe was straight cut to begin with i took about 2in's off then cut it at an angle to give it a better look but didnt get the cut perfect and it bothers me lol cant really tell unless your looking for it but i know its there. i put some VHT caliper panit on the whole thing cause of rust issues and i love this paint for its high temp. all my cars/trucks always had some sort of satin black accents.. anyways heres some pics.

That's a very nice looking setup, but I have some concerns. In regard to gas flow, you have replaced what appears to be five 45-degree angles with two 90's, a 135, and a 45...adding 135 degrees of tubing bend to the total setup. Logically this would equate to less exhaust gas flow, taking the muffler out of the equation. What have you noticed with this setup in regard to performance and sound?

So what does that "cheap turbo muffler" sound like? Are their pipes aluminized?

definitely noticed more power and fuel has increased a bit. i love the sound as well not load at all and has a nice rumble to it. as far as bends go the pipe is 3in now and has less back pressure do to the muffler

it sounds great to me for being a "cheap turbo muffler". yes they are aluminized. i didnt want some hillbilly loud ass exhaust on my truck thats why i went with this cat back. no interior drown at all. so the kids can watch there cartoons with out blasting the sound for them to hear it.
