Question about front end/rear end and trans
I've got a 2000 3/4 ton with the 360.. wondering what front and rear end might be on this thing, and what trans.

pop the hood, and look up! should have a sticker there telling you what is what.

good call... brb

dana 60 front and rear it looks like... doesnt tell me what trans though, just says 4 speed auto

The rear is the 60 HD... that should be a floating axle right?

rancherman 09-08-2010 08:31 PM

yes. I don't think any other was available. (as in the floating part). My '95 2500 has the '70'. unlike some chevs, when Dodge said 3/4 ton...they meant it! My father in law had a 'so called 2500' chev, and it came with 6 bolt axle. it was just a heavy duty 1/2 ton in my book.
are U sure it doesnt say anything about the trans??

BRB myself! I am going to check mine!

rancherman 09-08-2010 08:37 PM

I guess mine just says '4spd auto trans' chry, standard duty. I would of sworn it said which one. I'll bet someone on here knows.

46 RE is the trans in your truck.

6 lug on a 3/4 ton? lol wtf chevy! Yeah that would probably hurt my ego to be honest with u haha..

Thanks for checking on that trans.. is that a standard trans in the rams? or is that something for the 3/4 or 1 ton?

I'm just trying to better prepare myself for the questions im gonna be asked when i order parts for this truck. I like to know as much as I can about everything I own.. and I haven't had this truck too long so I'm still learning about it.

Do you have any experience replacing the u joints on the driveshaft at all? just wondering how easy it is, i've got this clunking/grinding sound when turning slow or backing up and turning.. only happens after driving for a while. been happening since i got the truck a year ago. Not sure if its in the rear end or the u joints doing it.. ill start with the u joints though since theyre cheap. Also, the sticker under the hood wasnt really specific about the rear end i believe its a lsd
