Sounds like a plugged heater core so I'd say you are looking at a change out.

Had a clogged heater core in a mercury and it was a change out... cab smelled like anti-freeze and gasoline.... not good for winter driving as you'd end up high since windows are all up.

Sounds like a core gone bad . And I'm not gonna be the guy to tell ya that the dash has got to be pulled to get to it .

there is a way to just unclog it but might as well change it out.

If theres steam coming from the vents it's leaking .

Question I dont have time to rip the dash apart this week to put in the new core I can just bypass the heater core for now right? ie one line instead of a pressure and return and cap the core?
