2011 Mygig in 2010 Ram

Was doing a little research on cost of buying the 2011 Mygig with the Garmin based nav to put in my 2010.

My dealer wants $2500 installed.

However, on my own I found out some not so good news. The 2011 Mygig will not mount in the 2010. Apparently the 2010 and older uses a side mounted system whereas the 2011 is top and bottom.

There was also a mention of wiring issues. It seems while the 2011 uses the same plug, the pin-outs are different so it would a harness swap too.

I'm no expert on this stuff so if anyone has other or contrary info, please post it.

I think you are right, Brian. I did some research on this myself and that was definitely the case for my 2007. Also, my CanBus didn't support the high speed RER MyGig unit.

Wow, for that price, I would go aftermarket double din......

I agree I would go with an aftermarket DD for that much. You can get a serious head unit for that kinda money!

Only reason I even bothered to ask is because of the Garmin based GPS/Nav. My sound system is fine for me.

There are aftermarket units with Garmin nav for a LOT less money!

C'mon, you know you want to do it... ;)

Will they work with my Unconnect which on the RBZ I understand is a separate unit? Will they just plug in with no wiring? Same dash plate?

You can get double din's with bluetooth as well Brian, which is handsfree calling. As for the plate, it's just a simple plastic dash kit and you would of course need an adapter harness.

If it's not something you wanna tackle, get with an audio shop and have them install it, it will still be much cheaper than what Dodge wants.

Or better yet, just get a Garmin GPS unit, that would be the cheapest route..

I have a Garmin Nuvi 760 that works great. I was just wondering what it would take to put the new 2011 radio with the Garmin based nav in a 2010.

I like to research things, if you haven't guessed from some of my other threads that I've started.
