Waiting for Oil Change signal

Hi,
I now have 3800 miles on my '09 Hemi Ram and still no oil change signal. Has anyone had it come after 3800? If so, how many miles for your 1st reminder.
Thanks,
Jim

Why are you waiting for the signal? Just a test? I have always changed my oil every 3mo/3000mi on every vehicle I've ever owned, regardless of what the book said unless it had a shorter interval.

Have you checked the level and condition of the oil, a new motor will use more oil while breaking in and will get dirty faster, I changed mine at 500, 1500 , 3000,( probably unnecesary but im anal) and between the 1500 and 3000 it was still pretty dirty. Good old fashion fluid checks are better than relying on a computor

Sounds like you're one of the rare people that can go longer between oil changes based on your driving habits. Being that the truck is new, I'd change it now anyway and then go by the reminder. Just make sure it gets reset when the oil is changed.

Dodge is losing money on my Ram with the oil change plan that they now have.

5w20 oil 7 quarts $13.79
oil filter $4.75
labor & hazmat $12.25
Total charge out the door $14.01

I don't see how they keep in business
July 19th, July 30, & August 25th had 3 oil changes, drove 8,000 miles & due for another in 1500 miles

I will keep changing my oil every 3,000 to 3,500 miles as long as they keep this current plan, i'd be crazy not to

wow thats alot of miles

I drove on my vacation from San Diego to Connecticut, then up to Toronto, then across to the Detroit area, down to Lake of the Ozarks Mo. & back to San Diego. I drive my Ram while i run my business too, sometimes running 1,000 miles in a day

Wow thats good news Jim . I haven't heard of anyone going that long on a oil change .

I really baby my truck, much too focused and trying to get higher mileage. I have given it a couple opportunities to "stretch", and about 95% or better of my miles are highway. My RoadRunner gives me my "thrill" rides.
I ask because my daughter has a new Honda CRV and her 1st oil change was at over 5000 miles. She had it at the dealer and they told her to wait.
Has anyone waited longer than me?
Jim
