Painting the honeycomb grille

Has anyone tried this? Mine is getting that faded gray look and I want it to be black again. I'm afraid to take a rattle can at it, since there's so many freakin holes! Any advice is greatly appreciated.

I painted mine when I had the chrome one on. Spray adhesion promoter first, then with the rattle can spray at different angles.

How long did that take you??

wermbang 09-15-2010 11:55 AM

The taping was about 45 minutes, the painting wasn't bad. I think I had around 3 coats of the blue on it.

Did it chip at all? Or did you put a clear coat on it?

wermbang 09-15-2010 12:12 PM

It chipped because I did not use an adhesion promoter. I had it for quite a long time untill I put my regular grill back on. I don't think I put clear on it or not, it was awhile ago.

Okay, Thanks Werm! I'll use some adhesion promotor, and then about 3 coats, with a good clear coat.

Don't forget the photos!
