spacer lift gone wrong

I installed a 2 inch rough country spacer kit on my 2nd gen. and now my upper ball joint is touching the frame where my bump stop mounts up. I am about to tear it down. Any suggestions?:4-dontknow:

2 questions...

uh oh thats no good i hope u get er fixed up soon...good luck

erm 09-28-2010 02:41 AM

ugh...that sucks. There's no clearance at all?

yea sorry I didn't specify earlier 2wd and I work in a shop so yes I am capable of the work. I ended up taking it off, I had it all in right I am sure. What I don't know is if there is a difference between the control arms of a sport and regular package, or if it had leveling coils on it already. Replacement shocks are the same size so I don't know. I did measure the coils and they measure 13 & 3/4 of an inch, but I have not found the specs for stock springs so I still don't know why exactly it didn't work, but I will find out. I had no clearance man my upper ball was resting on that bump stop bracket in fact it burred up the nut on the passenger side and I had to clean it up.

I just installed a rough country 2" lift on my 01 ram 1500 2 wheel drive, and it raised my front end 3 3/4" . Any thoughts on that?

My thought is you got more bang for the buck!

are your ball joints touching the bump stop bracket at any given time?

Nothing is hitting ,The ride is a lot stiffer than i expected, I have 17" rim's with 245/70/17 tires. Before the lift it measured 34" from ground to bottom center of front fender, after the lift it was 37 3/4 . I also used 2" block and U bolts on the rear. Purchased the lift through Addrenaline Motorsports, they said i probably have stiffer springs than most, the truck sits level and looks good now, but I'm afraid it may sit to low in the rear when i pull a trailer. I may try 1" spacers to see if i can get 2" of lift that way.
