AC only works on high mode.

Hello everyone I have an issue with my AC, It only seems to run when my selector switch is turned to high. It will not work on low or medium. All other functions work fine. Could it just be a bad selector switch? Or do I need to tear into the dash like i've been reading?

Thanks in advance.

So no fan at low or medium? If so, sounds like all you have is a bad fan control.

Blower motor resistor is shot. They aren't terribly pricey and only take a few minutes to install.

RAMING IT 09-28-2010 08:43 AM

Wow! Outstanding response guys! Where is the blower motor resister located, and is it a dealer item or could I find it at a autoparts store? Your help is very much appropriated! Yesterdays temp was 113 !!! in L.A Calif.

Yes, you can get them at most local parts stores but I would recommend one from the dealer because the quality is usually better. The resistor is located in the HVAC housing near the blower motor.

I almost forgot to mention to inspect the electrical connector at the resistor and make sure it hasn't gotten hot and tried to melt.

RAMING IT 09-28-2010 09:35 AM

Will do. Any idea why resistor might of gone out? ( just trying to anticipate further repairs )

RamTech 09-28-2010 09:37 AM

Yeah, just normal wear and tear. It's not an uncommon failure on older vehicles.
