Whats the cheapest way to do a 4-6" drop on a 96 2wd excab?

Found a DJM rear axle flip kit at summit racing for $180 comes with C notches and flip brackets..Not sure what else I would need in the rear..Would I have to have new shocks right away or could I drive it without lowering shocks? Where can I get a good inexpensive lowering shock anyway..also what would I need to drop the front 4" on the cheap? Thanks for all the help..

If you have springs in the front you can cold saw cut them. That rear axle flip kit sounds like the right one. New bumpstops (or shave your stockers) + shorter shocks are gonna have to go on. Your stock shocks are too tall and with 4" less travel/compression on them, they will fail pretty quickly.

Others may chime in with some other options so hang on...

Let the air out of the tires....that's the cheapest.
