P0443! Becoming a real bad thorn in my side!
alright folks.....already replaced the purge solenoid, one of the two evap. canisters, checked hoses, changed gas cap, even replaced pcm.....NO LUCK! ANY IDEAS OUT THERE? Oh and by the way DO NOT purchase the JET underpulley set if you have a high output aftermarket stereo in your truck as it will cause your alternator not to maintain charging voltage.........CODE WILL NOT GO AWAY!
P0443 is specific to the circuit side of the operation. The ECM is looking for both power and the controlled ground signal to the purge valve solenoid. If either is outta whack, it throws this code. Although the issue 'could' be the valve, it is not the most likely suspect, but you've ruled that out already anyway.
Have you check the wiring....opens, shorts, chaffing of the wires. If all of these are good, the problem could be the PCM, which controls the signal to the purge valve. If after checking all the wiring you don't find anything, it might be best to have the dealership test it with their scan tool. They can tell the system to turn on/off the valve manually to determine whether the problem is wiring, or control circuitry.
Hope this helps somewhat....
