Adjusting shift points

whats your experience with adjusting shift points with the predator.......what ive found is that even if you bump rev limter in drive to +600 and set the shift points at 6100 it still seams to shift before 6k and it also seems to bump the limiter or blip throttle before the shift:4-dontknow:

yeh i tried this about a week ago. I bumped the rev limiter as high as possible and adjusted to +600. This didnt work i had to bump the shift down cause it wasent shifting out of 1st at WOT it was just bouncing off the the revlimiter. The rest of the gears were fine. I need to check my settings to tell you what i have it set at. Also i have the throttle response +20%.

gonna post this to the ds site and see what they say.....

1-2 mine is set at 5800 and 2-3 is set at 6200
I cannot go any higher than that do to limiters

gonna go to my buddys shop this week and try to convince him to work a little cmr magic.....think there is a lot of room for gains raising shift points.....

What I wouldn't give to be able to change the shift points on my 42 RLE...Better still, swap in a NAG.

I set mine about 200 rpm before redline for a couple of reasons.

First, it takes a moment for the shift to occur and the revs are still climbing so it will bump the limiter.

Second, your best HP and torque will be found below redline and going much higher than those points is not all that beneficial to performance anyway. If you can shift in the sweet spot it will perform a lot better!

I have my rev limit set to max at 6200 and 1-2 to shift a 6100 which works great.
I used to have 2-3 set to shift at 6000 but I noticed the shift wasnt crisp..and it showed on my ET slips.
So I backed the 2-3 shift down to 5800 and my best ETs are at that setting.
6100 at 1-2
5800 at 2-3 works great for my truck setup. Im assuming it will be different for every truck size/weight
as Maddog says you have to find the sweet spot where power is made. Ive never had my truck dynoed so I use my ET slips as reference (1/4 mile dyno)

this was discussed in the other forums I belong to, the motor can actually spin faster than what the tach reads..
set your cruise control at for eg. 70mph and watch your tach. I sometimes see the needle flutter + or - 100 rpms but never see speed move or feel a miss. Maybe the factory tach isnt the best to be had, I dont know

I don't understand how some of you are setting your 1-2 shift at anymore than 5800 or so....Mine shifts at 5800 regardless of where I set it too (cuts out and shifts quick)

I have all my limiters adjusted high and my 2-3 shift at 6000 which works fine but I can't do much with 1-2

Am I the only one with this?????
