Flu Shot? What say you!
I do not get flu shots, I work outside in all weather and also in multiple houses. All that and I only occasionally come down with a bad cold.

Do you get them or not? Why or why not?

The few times I took the shot I always got the flu. When I don't get the shot I have a 50/50 chance, I like those odds better.

I'm a person that does not allow any anti-bacterial cleaners or soaps in my home. Killing bacteria leads to a reduction in the body's ability to build immunities to them and weakens our ability to withstand exposure.

i have 4 of the markers that are considered bad when it comes to illness
over 65, high blood pressure, erratic heart beat, over weight, also my blood cells are to large & i have to take B-12 shots to try to correct it ( blood cell size has something to do with the immune system)

In my business a contract is done with a hand shake, so i sometimes i shake hands several times a day & wearing gloves just doesn't seem right some how, i try to remember to foaming bacterial hand spray, but, sometimes its not handy

i get so sick after the shot. One year i had such a high fever i saw the angel flying off the christmas tree

As far as the shot, No ****ing Way...I hate needles.

I don't get the flu very often. Back in the day, when we HAD to get one, I got sick every time.

I may get a minor cold now and then. I am interested to see what happens this Fall & Winter since I've stopped smoking. I believe I will not have that lingering sniffle and cough this year.

My motto is: Just Say No To Needles!!!! :D

I've never had one in my life and never will. My mother was a nurse, so I grew up knowing how to take care of injuries that would have sent most people running to a doctor. She knew what the doctor would say. She didn't think flu shots were needed either. I figure she knew what was necessary and what wasn't.

My wife forces me too. I don't think I need one. But she says "You have to because of the kids"

No flu shot here, never have. Needles don't bother me, but I've only had the flu twice in my life, 1993 and 1998. I work in a small office and most times, people don't care enough about themselves much less their co-workers to stay home when they're sick, but after having worked in a hospital for a couple years, hygiene plays a big part to me and I am OCD about washing my hands and not touching my face after being around someone who is sick. Was just tellling my mom the other day, it sucks to be me, I'm too healthy for my own good, I never get to call in sick lol, but eating right, I believe, also helps. :)

Yes, every year! Otherwise we get terribly ill. They also offer it in nasal spray for those scared of needles!

jcasey10 11-05-2010 05:58 PM

I had mine earlier this year, and ive gotten them before. Never made me sick and needles don't bother me. One year when I was 15 I didn't get the shot and was sick for over a week, so I've had one every year now.
