Barely any heat

ok so it's winter and bad things seem to allways happen in the winter. I have barley any heat. it is warmer when sitting at an idle , but not really hot just warm. if i start diving it gets cooler.

I have changed:
water pump
T stat (twice)
fushed the cooling system.

The hoses are all hot. What is weird to me is that the hoses don't have very much pressure in them. I can take the radiator cap off easily with out it spraying out and it doesn' get hot at all even after an hour of driving.

Any ideas?

Sounds like you have a bad cap or a leak but I don't see that causing a low heat problem. It's possible you have either a blend door problem or the core could have enough corrosion or fins blocked to reduce the heat output.

ok so were do you think i should start?I really appreciate the help, Ram tech. i'm gunna ask some of the tech's at work today as well just so i can get acouple oppinions.

I'd start by using an infared thermometer to check the temps of both heater hoses. If heat is properly transferring from the core to the cabin, then one hose should be significantly cooler than the other.

I don't have access to an infared thermometer but just to the touch they feel prety much the same.

If no heat is getting to the cabin area and the hoses are hot the heater core must be plugged, or possibly be a blend air door in your hvac assb. I havent seen that much in your year of truck. Ramtech was righto in the first post.

OK update....... we HAVE heat. I didn't think it would work but it did. i let CLR sit for an hour inside of the heater core. then I got my power washer running. I put the one hose in a five gallon bucket and taped the presure hose to the other and hit it full blast. I did that a few times switching sides. I hooked her back up topped off the coolant and walahh We got heat.

Most likely will replace the core this summer but atleast i have heat .

I cooked my hand pretty good which is a down fall but at least i got heat.
