newbie ?s

whats up guys, im new to the forums been lurking for a while and finally decided to join. i recently purchased a 2000 ram 2500 with the v10, looking to do some mild mods the usual bolt on stuff, my main concern right now is the exhaust, it is WAY to quiet. Ive looked at a couple of cat back systems and i just dont think they are going to be loud enough, im from indiana and we dont have emisions or inspections, as long as i have a cat on im legal and they rarley ever check that, so im thinking of running wide open from the cats back, any suggestions or concerns? thanks in advance

i think you have the right idea..... i have a 2006 dodge ram 1500 with the 4.7L V8 6speed man trans..... and i run stock cats and no muffler i ran 3 1/2 inch exhaust all the way out with 4 inch welded on tips and i love the sound and it runs great loud but not anoying in the cab. privat msg or email i can try to get you a sound clip of mine.

im sure the v8 sounds sick wide open like that did you notice any change in power and/or mileage? just curious if anyone on here has done it with the v10 everyone says the v10 has its own sound to it and curious if the power can is noticable

wide open exhaust may sound cool but you'll lose some low end torque by reason of no discernible back pressure in the system.

I'd go with a nice sounding muffler that flows well.

yes your right i can feel it in my bottom end where i have a slight power loss not substantial but noticeable.... but the trade of is when you get around 2500 rpms and about espcially wide open throttle i can feel the gain from the engine getting breath.

Yes the V-10 does have it's own type of sound . Nothing like a V-8 . Try straight piping it and see how it sounds . You can always put a muffler on it . Make sure you stop by the newbie section and introduce yourself .
