bigger better tires for 2wd 1500 xcab ?

I 've got to change the crappy goodyear wranger tires on my 1996 2wd xcab ram. They are 245 -16 . What is the largest tire I can run with no problems? I was thinking of going with a 265. I would like a wider tire if possible but not necessary Has anyone done this? or anyone have a better recommendation. THis is my first 2wd truck ever so I don't plan on lifting. I just need the truck to look a bit meatier. Any thoughts or pics ?

thanks

My truck is running 275s stock, but I am not sure how wide you could go on a 96. You could always just level the truck to fit a little bigger tires on it.

my cousin has 265/75r16's on american racing wheels with no problems on his 96 x-cab 2wd. they look good and fit fine. don't know what the backspacing is on those wheels. are you gonna get a differently backspaced wheel?

you could look at 235/85r16's. they are a little skinnier than 245 you are running now but are taller than the 265.

265's up to a 70 or 75 sidewall should fit just fine!
