New shock Question..

Can I get away with the factory length shock if I have a 2" leveling kit on the front of my 06 1500 4X4? If I go with the Bilstein shock, they either say factory or for 4" to 6" lift kits. I seem to be in the middle at 2"!

Speaking of my lift kit of course!!!

I could be wrong. But I believe the leveling kit is really just a spacer that bolts to the top of the strut.

If you are getting a spacer to sit on top of your strut you do not need to get new shocks. The shock sits in the strut assembly. The spacer sits on top of the whole strut to give the level. This does not have any impact on the shocks.

They say 4" or 6" lift since those are the two heights of lift kits that need the shocks. Also those should be for the rear, not the front.

Now since you are looking at the Bilstein shocks they make a leveling kit. The 5100 series shocks are a leveling kit. With that type of leveling kit you need new shocks, but they are included. This way of lift has a spring seat adjustment in the shock body. This lets the spring sit higher up which pushes the truck up

I love my 5100's....
