thanks to the guys who led me in the right direction to the problem(s) on my truck..

after getting it in the air and popping the tires off, I have a whole other headache with this truck. Rotors shot, u-joints shot, wheel bearings, and still trying to figure out what else..

I just have a couple questions.. (refer to pictures)

Where the driveshaft comes out of the housing (to drive each front wheel) is there supposed to be a bearing there? before the universal? If there is, mine is toast...., But I am not sure if this is designed to use the wheel bearing for that surface..

How do I tell if I have front ABS or not? I was looking at new wheel bearing assemblies and theres either front ABS or not.. I am hoping I dont as the price savings is significant.

That's the axle shaft, not drive shaft and if I'm not mistaken there should be a seal in there. Others with more knowledge will stop by.

I highly recommend getting a service manual, they are worth their weight in gold.

I have a couple different service manuals, worthless unless I know exactly what I want to do.

I believe that if you don't have any kind of wires going to your brakes then you can assume you don't have front ABS. Someone please correct me if I am wrong.

I have the teardown manuals for all my vehicles and I think they help a lot. I guess it depends on who makes them.

The wire thats in the photo is for ABS . So yes you do have it .

When i had my front end apart last night, other than the wheel bearing nd u joint, the first thing you will come to if you work from the outside in, is a seal. its about a foot or so into the axle. It is a PITA and dang near impossible to change without pulling the center section out of the diff.

there is no bearing, and yes there is a HUGE difference in price for abs shafts and from what i can see yours is not front abs so your saving about 200 bucks for new front hubs/wheel bearings.

i just did mine bout a month ago. they arent hard at all to do it took me literally half an hour.

If you need some help on it just throw me a question

Good luck!
