heater just started blowing cool
I've got a 5.9 1996 2wd lariat. I recently replaced water pump belts etc...
My heater just stopped blowing hot. the truck will warm up and start blowing a little warm but the more you drive it turns cool.
Both heater hoses are hot
blowers work fine
temp sits at 198 once warm
a/c works fine
My question does this sound like a clogged heater core or blend door. Also how do I check to see if blend door is functioning properly? also I do get some gurgling in the dash from heater core (what is the cause)?
Is the coolant level where it should be in the radiator? If that's good, remove the glove box and locate the cable to the temp door and make sure it moves back and forth as you change the position of the temp knob. If everything is ok, you probably have a heater core clogging up. You can try back flushing the cooling system but if that fails then you'll need a new core.
Well knock on wood the flushing of the heater core and radiator has my heat back on. I just need it to last a couple of months! Thanks for all the info.
