Chrome nerf bars

I have the factory chrome nerf bars. I would like them to be black. Is there any way to paint or powdercoat a chrome surface so that it won't peel or flake off?

Can I have a bedliner coating put on my chrome nerf bars?

I would suggest powder coating, there are so many colors available when powder coating & it will not rust
they even have what appears to be a metal flake powder coat, all off them shine like a good paint job
my Harley Davidson gas tanks are powder coated, i didn't even wet sand them. My nerf bars & sign mount are also powder coated

I have the same bars on mine, and am thinking of coating them... Considering one car wash (i did it myself with no brushes) and the salt n sand on the rag (from washing a square of the fender below) was enough to scratch the crappy chrome on these. Im severely pissed about it, as i just saw the result and the truck isnt even 2 weeks old. Now im debating on keeping or removing these. So pissed...

Powder coating or bedliner will work. Also I have seen some people use plasti dip, if you get a scratch just re spray a little.
