turbo boost
I just bought a 06 ram with the cummins in it. I have a intake and exhaust with the edge juice. when i put my foot in it the boost hits about 38-40 and the edge alert me. What is the high end on the boost for the cummins

With no other mod's I think your close to the high end now.

The 5.9L can handle 45lbs, after that you'd want to get a set of head studs to keep the head planted. Stock, I wouldn't put much more than 40psi to it, and after that I'd also look at getting a high ram on there to replace the stock intake elbow.

Thanks for your help. Will that high ram intake help lower the boost.

The high ram doesn't lower the boost, it allows it to move more unrestricted into the intake manifold. If you compare an aftermarket one to the stock, the stock intake elbow has 2 sharp bends, which restricts the flow, where as the aftermarket has a nice sweep. If you're getting higher than normal boost (which is not always a bad thing as long as you're not running lean) you may have a wastegate issue, but those numbers don't worry me at all.

Thanks for your help with this issue. I am sure i will have more qestions later. Have a Merry christmas and a happy new year.

IMHO if you are consistantly over 40 lbs boost I would look for a different turbo and be prepared to do some internal engine work. I'd rather be safe than sorry--but thats just me.
