Dual Zone Climate control issue

I have an 05 Ram 3500. The dual zone climate control is behaving a little strange. The drivers side will blow hot on defrost only. If moved to the feet or dash it will go much cooler. The temp control responds if I move it to cool but when on hot it is warm at best. As I said before on defrost it blows hot, as the passenger side. If I put it on recirculate it blows warmer but still not hot. I have found very limited information on the dual climate control. I am not wanting to pull my dash apart without at least exploring every possible fix first.

Any help would be appreciated.

You probably have a broken blend door for the drivers side.

Thanks. Is there any way to trouble shoot that without taking it apart?

Get someone to help you. You crawl down under the dash and have them operate the controls with the engine running. Using a flashlight look for the actuator arms moving.

Have the person put the controls in each mode so you can see what the arms are doing for each one.
