Nerf Bars

I don't have my truck yet, but I know for sure I will want bars asap once I get it because the family will struggle to get in the truck without them.

Been looking online for a good stainless set (prefer OEM), and came across this site which advertises locally. Anyone tried them?

http://www.autoeq.ca/dodge/ram1500_h..._3sidebar.html

I'm not trying to promote thier product, but rather I am interested to know if anyone has any feedback with that specific product?

I'm assuming those bars that are listed for 2009 & 2010 models will fit a 2011 model.

On a flame red sport model w/ 20" chrome clad wheels would black or chrome look better for the bars?

Is 3" round big enough, or is a 4" the preferred size?

Round okay or look for oval?

I'll probably only have these 3 or 4 years at most then I will be looking for the power bars.

Appreciate any input. Feel free to vote :)

Oval looks better and the 4" looks to be a better fit aesthetically given the size of the vehicle. And a 4" oval gives you a better step pad.

Chrome is nice on most colors (including red!) but black looks good on certain ones. There has to be other black accents on the truck (wheels, tint, handles) for the black bars to fit on a red truck so I say stick with chrome, 4" oval.

I suggest checking out the n-fab bars. Mine are OEM but were thrown into the deal when I got the truck so....

Thanks.... I opted for the quiet color choice, affectionately known as Flame Red :) lol

I also have the flame red and the 4" ovals look great. They make a 5" but I think they would look to big. 3's look to small. Mine are Aries http://www.autoanything.com/nerf-bars/61A1018A0A0.aspx You want polished stainless not chrome, chrome won't hold up as well.

I agree about the stainless steel part. They should also come with a lifetime warranty.

Check out these running boards!

I would like to try these but they're $1000+ and I don't know how long they'd last in a Canadian winter.

That said, I do have to get something. My Girlfriend has a rough time getting in, especially while wearing a skirt!!!

Good point. I noticed that site I mentioned had polished stainless including the end caps, and a lifetime warranty.

Thanks Mike, I am following this thread to see how they hold up in the winter. http://www.ramforumz.com/showthread.php?t=68434
It will be 3 or 4 years before I go with power steps though.

Like you, my wife and kids will have a hard time getting in this truck without something to assist.
