Anyone here good with iPods?

I can't sync mine any more. I get a corrupted iPod message. I can't even restore it, crashed the iTunes every time! I don't have a Genius Bar close so my other option is just to buy a new one unless someone knows how to restore this one! Grrrrrrr..........

It is an iPod Classic, 6th Gen, 120GB

wow i'm sorry. I've owned my original ipod 5th generation for atleast 6 years and have had no problems with it whatsoever. Have you tried doing a soft reset, (pressing the middle button and menu button together and holding until ipod shuts down)? THis may help clear whatever's going on and has for the most part cleared up problems with mine.

If i'm not mistaken, doesn't best buy's "Geek Squad" handle ipod related stuff to? Granted I don't like best buy or geek squad, it may be something to look into.

Take a look into this link for some help, click me

That's some good advice cosbourn and I have used that link before to restore mine.

Good luck, Stacy!

While I go investigate that link (THANK you very much!!), yes, I have done a bizillion soft resets! It still plays just fine, I have an Alpine iPod deck in Blue. I just have an ordeal everytime I try to sync it with iTunes and now I can't even restore it. I just hate to drop $250 I don't have to buy a new one. I did find another alternative if all other efforts fail: http://www.irepair.com/ipod-repair-quote.html

Good luck, Stacy. Looks like that link also offers fixes for a bad HD. It won't restore your data and basically they put a new one in.

I can't even get it to do this:

- Restore method Try putting it in disk mode by holding the Menu + Center buttons until the Apple logo appears, then when it Logo appears, switch to holding Center + Play/Pause buttons until it says “Ok to Disconnect”. Then try formatting or restoring it and see if it fixes it at all. To get out of disk mode, reset your iPod by holding Menu + Center buttons until the Apple logo appears again. If this fails, proceed with the next.

After I switch to the Menu+Center nothing happens and it goes right back out to the Main Menu on the iPod. Either I am doing something wrong or I am gonna chick this damn thing against the wall!!!!!!!!

Don't "chick" it (what the hell does that mean anyway...angry small woman throwing things???) yet. Try restoring it through the USB interface instead.

I meant "chuck".....my patience goes right along with my size...short!!!

It worked just fine till I got the new laptop with Windows 7!! That is when my troubles started!

erm 01-01-2011 02:44 PM

oooh..maybe you should look at Windows 7/iPod compatibility topics vs. having a corrupted driver or HD issue.

WHOOHOO!!!!!!!!!!!!! I got it!!!!! :D

Special thanks to cosbourn for the link and to Cajun for the distraction! Not sure how I did it exactly but I was able to get the stupid iPod to restore through iTunes by having it in disk mode and smacking it on the desk! LOL! iTunes now recognizes and syncs my little bundle of joy now with no hitches!!!
