Car wash damage. Chrome clad wheel.

Super pisseed right now, just went through my local automated car wash to get the winter grime off.

While being directed into the wheel track for the automated wash i sustained a large scratch in my chrome clad wheel.

I didnt noticed till i got home while walking to my front door, I just sent an email to the car wash place.

But in the meantime, anything i should do to further stop the damage if the car wash does not put out for a new rim?

i know these are just covers, where can I purchase a new one other then the stealership?

thanks

That sucks man, I hate going through the car washes sometimes we have to choice when the truck is covered in salt and grime from the winter. I'm not too sure on how you'd fix it. It'll probally need to be replaced, hopefully the car wash place will foot the bill for you.

i would expect the washpeople to say "no way we could do that"..........
but you never know.

That sux!!! I kinda fear that at my wash too...I would go back in there and talk with the owner/manager.

I know you are one upset person but I would wait and see what the Car Wash responsibile party replies with. In the meantime, I am not sure there is anything that can be done. IF anything good were to come out of this it would that there are a few of us that have your rims and we now know not to take our trucks through washes like these. This sucks and I am sorry.

That really does suck, sorry to see that and good luck, sure hope they work with you on getting it replaced!

Thanks for the sympathy guys, I know our trucks cannot stay perfect forever. But this sucks since it's brand spanky new, and the damage occured on somebody elses fault while I was only trying to clean her up.

Like I said, I emailed the place. Hopefully I'll get some sort of positive response.

Interwebs doesn't look to be much help for replacments, hopefully somebody can chime in who knows about them.

Thanks

I'm really sorry for you, because I know how we love our new trucks. That being said, I have never been in a car wash that could have made that scratch. Are you positive it happened there?

99.999 %

It still has the fresh little tiny peices along the edges where it's flaking off. Most def. just happened, plus i would of noticed walking to my truck coming out of work this morning.

Just last night I took my truck through its first automated car wash. I thought of exactly what happened to you as I entered since there is a super long, fat, round guide bar on each side the entire length as you drive through. I forgot to push in my trailer side mirrors (my 08 didn't have them so it didn't even cross my mind until the washing unit came towards me. I rolled down the window with soap flying in and got one in but the other bashed forward from the machine. ARGH! I wanted to get out during the wash to see what happened! So, I know how you feel. I was then drying the truck and thought the 'chrome' rims seemed plastic. Oddly enough, while searching for parts for it on Ebay, I did come across a listing for 'chrome' wheel coverings for the 2011. I thought at the time, "Wow, what a cheap way to make non chrome wheels look chrome." I then wondered how they would stay on. So, maybe that is the 'chrome cap' our rims have? They call them skins. Is this what we have?
Here is the link. If the link doesn't work search under 2011 Ram Wheel Skins.
