Advertised MPG

Got bored and wanted to see if I could nail down exactly what configuration the advertised fuel economy of the Rams is based on. All I could find is:

Ram 1500 Hemi 4x2 is 14 city and 20 hiway
Ram 1500 Hemi 4x4 is 13 city and 19 hiway

I'm wondering if anyone is able to get an exact configuration of the Ram to attain those numbers. I'm thinking of things like:

1. Wheel and tire size
2. RC vs QC vs CC
3. Gears
4. Bed size

Just thought it would be interesting to know info.

I haven't seen 13 or 19 since I bought it. More like 11 and 15 but if I wanted good gas mileage I would have bought a KIA. lol

I can second that I have not seen those number. I am thinking of sending mine to an AA meeting for the way it drinks......

I average 15.7 in the city right now, but that is also at sea level. Haven't taken the beast on the highway yet, but I will update with my numbers once I knock out a road trip. Truck isn't even broken in yet. Still haven't hit the 1,000 mile mark. My 2008 Ram with the 4.7L was averaging 15.1 after 32,000 miles had been put on her.

Driving down a mountain this week it was showing 21. YEAH. Driving back up the mountain it showed 10!! UGh. I haven't reset it at all and now with 1500 miles it just shows an average of 14.7 as of tonight. This is highway driving, mountain driving and city driving all mixed together.

I average a little over 15 in mine, but that is 50/50 highway and city driving. On road trips, I've seen as much as 18mpg before deciding to "pick up the pace" a little.

That's with my Hemi powered, regular cab, short bed, 4,10 gears, and 305/45R22 Falken Ziex tires on 22" SRT-10 replica wheels.

Should have clarified... That was all highway. Get a head on wind and that will affect it greatly. Combined about 19-20L/100 km. MDS only seems to work downhill or foot off the pedal.
