Thermostat

Temp gauge was acting pretty erratic so I replaced the t-stat. Pretty easy to get to on the 5.7, only problem was the lower spring clamp. Job took about an hour, half of that messin' with the lower clamp. Plan on changing to a screw clamp if you need to change yours. 43K miles, I believe this was the second replacement. I found a piece of the old one wedged between the water pump and the air pump. Good luck!

Good info. Do you think the old one came apart????

Not sure, I'm guessing when it was pried out the back half seperated from the front. I checked the pocket in the block, it didn't look like anything was rattling around in there. When I pulled this one out the metal parts seperated from the gasket. Had to use a small screwrdiver to pry out the gasket out of the seat.
