heater not working
2003 Ram 1500 Quad cab with 4.7. Heater was working on passenger side only & now that has stopped. From info I am finding it appears to be the doors. Are there 3 doors or more then that? Plus some say the job is easy others - complicated. My thoughts are since everyone claims this to be a Dodge defect I am thinking all doors should be changed. I am not a mechanic but am fairly talented - should I try this? I bought my Ram new & overall I am happy - only stupid items like the heat - sun visors that do not stay up (not the clips - they did not help when I changed them & the plastic in front of the dash is cracked in a lot of pieces.
Can use help
rio in sc
3 doors and it is a pain..but can be done in your garage in a weekend. lots of screws and bolts.
I removed the dash & found the re-circ door broken. Covered the outside vent & received good heat on passenger side but cold on drivers. This leads me to believe the blend door is broken. I believe it is the top door - where can I get information about changing this? Heater treeter does not show a video for replacing this & seems to want an excessive amount considering the parts stores want $18 - $22. I can find the blend door at the parts store but not the re-circ door - any suggestions?
thanks for your earlier response
some companies make plastic or cloth dash covers, google it, this is just a couple sources
ebay also has them
Thanks for the info. Regarding the dash - my dash itself is not cracked - I need the piece on top of the dash that goes to the windshield -- mine is cracked around every defrost vent. Any suggestions for suppliers to purchase this?
