side mirror lights
hey guys, i'm new to this, just signed up today cuz there's a ton of useful info. i have a question about the 2011 ram that i need help with. my friend just bought the truck and loves it but is having an issue with the lights on the side mirrors staying on. whenever he leaves the truck, if he doesn't lock it, the approach lights stay on. is there a way to either shut that off or make it shut off without locking the truck? thanks for your help.

I am not 100% sure but has he looked at the settings in the manual? I have an '08 2500 with tow-signal mirrors and there are various setting you can do following steps in the manual. For example, I can have the lights come on when I lock the truck or unlock it and other settings.

If he goes into the EVIC and looks at the user-programmable settings, there's a setting in there for illuminated exit (or something like that)...You can modify the time settings for staying lit, etc..and I believe you can turn it off entirely as well.

The puddle/walkway lights will stay on for a few seconds to a minute when exiting if the key was on and turned off. However, if he just opens the door and then locks and closes it without turning the key on, they will stay on for about 10 or 15 min.

How about stopping by the Newbie area and introducing yourself. :D

tried looking through the EVIC and didn't see any options for turning those lights off. there's "illuminated entry lights" options but none of those fix the problem. we tested to see if they would shut off on their own after 10 to 15 mins, nope they didn't. the only time the lights shut off is when you lock the truck.

there should be a delay off option on your EVIC and you can choose how long from there
