DRL/Dealer issues

Called my dealer and asked to have daytime running lights turned on. Service manager said no problem.

After about 45 minutes I was told something about the sales code needed changed or something, then they told me it couldn't be done.

Do I need to find another dealer, or can it really not be done???

why you want the DRL turned on?? this aint canada LOL?? just turn on your heads if you want DRL

If you need the tails to be on, then you need to turn switch to on. If you're just wanting the heads on, they are on when the switch is in auto.

On my '11, I believe the DRLs are managed in the info menu

the auto function only turns the headlights on when the photocell sensor says its too dark. at least on the DRL activated trucks way up here.

I also have an interest in this and I'm in FL. What lights are actually used for DRL's, is it the headlights?

DRL's operate like a low wattage headlight. I'd put the headlights in auto and cover up the sensor if you want headlights on all the time.

I am not sure about the sales code issue. Since DRL's are a requirement in Canada, a Canadian sales code vehicle would have a different PCM flash for DRL's to operate. So the dealer is right but I am not sure why they say they can't do it!

I realize that it is not required (currently) in the US to have DRL...but why is that you dont have it or better yet dont want it? I used to hate it when it first became required but now, having just visited the US (Hawaii) and it wasnt on the Jeep I rented, I growled having to turn my lights on and off myself....very lazy I may be, but convienient it is.

Don't do it! lol

you will end up with dim high beams, that wink

I'm not 100% sure on this but I believe the country code has to be changed in order for the DRL function to be enabled.
