17" TRX wheel / tire help (w/pic)
1 Attachment(s)
How wide are the factory wheels? I am thinking about going up from a 275/70r17 to a 295/70r17. I think this wheel will be wide enough but I dont know if I need different wheels for offset to clear the suspension. It also looks like BFG or maybe terra grapplers are the only tires I see in this size but the BFGs seem to get great ratings. If I do need wheels I probably have to go to an 18" wheel. I want tires at least an inch taller and +/- 1 inch wider but I don't want to hurt my handling too much especially in the rain. One thing I know for sure is that the factory wheel and tire setup looks weak and I am not crazy about most of the aftermarket wheels that I see.

I have 295/70/17 Terra Grapplers on stock 17's and only rub at full lock, my stock 17's are 17X8. Look at your door jam where your paintcode is and it'll actually tell you the stats on the wheels (17X8, 17X9....etc)

How much wear on your current tires? I'm in the market for some 275/70/17s and I'm in VA.

I have a set of 275/70/R17 Goodyear Wrangler At/s with 10,500 miles on them that I am willing to sell.

Going to the 295 section width tire won't be a problem. Your stock wheel can handle that. Once you get to 305 and above I'd be concerned about it popping off the rim due to a good jolt or bounce.

You are only going up 20mm with the 295 which is .787401"
