Lucky for us 4.7 owners, we don't have to worry about MDS drone. I have a 14" Magnaflow muffler on my 07, and it's perfect for me. Sounds like you might want to look at the 18" muffler. Check YouTube for sound clips, see what you think.

If you want the least amout of cabin noise ... stock?

In general the longer the muffler the quieter. Same goes with the number of internal baffles. Look up some models you are interested in and search You-Tube for clips people have posted with that muffler.

If quiet is what you are looking for, then stock is your best bet.

If you are looking for better flow and less restriction, understand that you need less material in the airflow and that will create more noise.

I like the Magnaflow systems. They have a nice tone when driving around town, you definitely hear them when you are on it but cruising down the freeway they are one of the quieter systems out there.

Good luck!

You could also look at a 22" magnaflow, shouldn't be much louder than stock, but with better flow and sound!

4th Gen is 3" in and 3" out on the single exhaust. I'm not sure about 3rd Gen though. ...And to comment on the 22" Magnaflow sound, I have a 24" Mufflex (Magnaflow) and it is most definitely louder than stock! At least on my truck, it sounds a lot different. It's a low-toned rumble IMO.

My truck is a 2008 and it is also 3"in-3"out. I have been looking at exhaust kits for a while now and am probably gonna go with the Gibson split dual system because of a good price and hopefully it sounds good. Good luck !
