Training or re-teaching??

Ok, new to this forum and to Dodge for that matter. Am swapping out the radio in my 2006 MegaCab for a MyGig Nav unit. Have lockpick, bezel and adapters, back up camera and all other parts needed. I have seen some references in the literature talking about training the computer/truck when a new piece of gear is installed.

Could some one give me the low-down on this process? What is required, and what changes are actually happening? Also, could you tell me what the dealer scan is all about.

Thanks for any information.

You don't need to do anything with the modules. This process is done when something new is added to the CAN bus systems such as a hands free module to a stock radio with uconnect.

Thanks Randy for the response. I am changing the mirror to a two mike, auto dimming mirror and the Mygig nav head will add uconnect/bluetooth hands free to the system.

Ah, I see. When the install is complete, go to the dealer and tell them you need the new accessories added to the build configuration and the new configuration uploaded into the truck. Some accessories require this and some don't.
