Which super 44? Dumped or no? Tip?
Hi all. I am going to pick up my Ram quad cab 4.7L tomorrow if nothing happens and I'm already on the mod train! I don't have a lot of cash to throw at it so I think I'm just going to swap in a Super 44 in place of the stock muffler. Anyone know exactly which Super 44 I need for correct offset and alignment? 2.5" inlet right? Also, there is one on youtube that is dumped before the axle and it sounds sick! But I'm not a huge fan of dumping the exhaust out under the truck. Is it going to sound totally different if I run it out just like factory with a 3 or 3.5" tip?

Thanks ahead of time!

I pretty sure your truck's got a 3" inlet. I've got a 3" in/ 3" out Magnaflow muffler on my 07.

Personally, I think it would sound better with the tail pipe on it rather than dumped. It will also help with interior resonance issues if you're concerned with that.

Hmmmm. I've googled trying to find the exhaust diameter and all I get is aftermarket stuff. I guess I'll just have to measure it when I get the truck back (hopefully today). I am going to go with a tip as well rather than dumping it. Just need the truck here to do some measuring and figure out which tip I need. I'll update when I figure it out.

I would run it and tip it too. I had a fullsize chevy that I put a Super44 on and dumped it right about the bed/cab seperation and it was not cool. Sounded ok but smelled bad and just overall weird.

I put a original 40 single in and dual out on my ram and it is so much louder and deeper than the 44 was on the chevy.

Yeah, I'm going to put a tip on it for sure. I'm actually torn between the super 44 and original 40 series. I had decided to go with the super 44 because of the clip on youtube that I like and the fact that Flowmaster markets the super 44 as "the most aggressive, deepest sounding" 4-inch case muffler that they have. Here is a link to the vid that I like so much.

Just FYI...I measured and I do have 3" in and out of the stock muffler. Going to order the Super 44 center inlet/offset outlet and a tip. Will post when installed.

Well, I got my muffler and tip (and my Line-x spray-in) all done last week. I've been fighting with youtube trying to get the clip to upload but it just won't work. My camera records in .MOV format and I also converted it to .MPG and .AVI but none of them will upload. They all start fine until about 10% and then freeze up even though I can play them all just fine. Anyway, I love it. It's actually a little louder than I expected but I'm glad. Any thoughts on what the problem with youtube is? I could probably post it to facebook and link it from there if anyone is considering this setup and really wants to hear it.
