29 Palms??

Anyone out in that region? I'll be heading out there in a few months for Comm Maintenance Chief School, so I'll be stuck out there for about 9 months... Not looking forward to it.

Sorry to hear you have to head to that dreaded place. To answer your question luckily no I'm not there.

damn......nobody enjoys the ******* of America, can't say I blame them!

the only good thing about 29 palms ca, it is 80 miles from BIG BEAR LAKE & likely the best time you can have anywhere close :)

I was out there for 4 years not including the times I went there for exercises. I had a good time in the 03 QC out in the sand dunes of the Fishbowl and Johnson Lake as well as Burns Canyon and Big Bear....lots of wheeling fun out there

I was out there for cax training originally from camp lejeune..I found 29 palms pretty nice place...I dont know maybe it was my first time in desert, but i liked it..Deffinitely better than Lejeune..

Its not a bad place just give it some time and you will enjoy it.
you have big bear lake not far from you. you have las vegas and laughlin nevada about 4-5 hours away. you can go to arizona to the river
a few you could be in LA to the clubs . i went to 29 palms in 1986 and after i served my time i lived in calif till 2008 now i am back in PA
its really not that bad out there

GTyankee 03-03-2011 01:41 PM

some of the earthquakes feel strange at first, sort of like living near a bombing range

i use to live in Niland, California, close to the base of the Little Chocolates bombing range
500 pounders going off is like an earthquake
