Steering wheel wooble

Got another one. My steering wheel "wobbles" back and forth consistantly, the faster I go the faster it wobbles, same for slower and slower. It feels like there is a bubble in the tire, but there's not. The truck pulls to the right, always did even shortly after a new alignment and the wobble seems to push that way

I took it to the Dodge Dealer 10 months ago and they said the tires belts slipped and sold me new tires. Never heard of that and I thought the were full of it. It stopped for a while but it started up again about a month ago. The steering does not move violently just back and forth.

Could I need tires so soon or could it be something else?

Any input would be appreciated

is it constant? cause it can wobble a little bit when you take it out 4x4

How many miles on your truck? I suspect you have some worn out bushings in the suspension and your trackbar links (notoriously weak) may have given up.

Thanks. It's constant in any drive. The truck has 140,000 miles

Steering damper shot?

Greillo 01-28-2011 05:23 PM

Not sure but sounds expensive

Steering dampers aren't nearly as costly as ball joints or a track bar.

Definately the tires...I had the samething...in my Escape...I had them keep the tire just so I could see...to my eye it looked straight til the guy rolled it across the concrete...it had a wobble to it for sure and wouldn't even stand up on its own.
The way mine happened...I had a low tire didn't realize it (no tpms and I wasn't watching it) and I drove on it too far...hit a pot hole and WHAM tire No good No more.
Friend of mine hit a pot hole and ended up busting a tie rod she too had a wobble in hers...but I would say check under the truck and see if it is the tie rod first...then if nothing...it's definately the tire
