'01 Dodge Ram 4wd shifting problem

Well...........

I have a snow plow on my truck, which i use the 4wd quite often. I have never had a problem with the truck shifting in or out of 4wd. Then the other day I tried shifting into 4 high, nothing. the light on the dash didn't light or the 4wd didnt engage. I would like to think the problem is NOT in the transfer case, rather somewhere in the vacuum system......

Any ideas or things to check, look for?

Thanks

Try and verify that the front driveshaft is spinning when in 4x4 . You may need a 2nd person for that test . If so , you should have 2 vacuum lines going from the transfer case to the front axle . That makes the front axle lock in when the t-case is engaged in 4x4 . Check and see if their in tact and not broken . Their plastic so with some age on them they have a tendency to break easily .

Had the same problem on my old 01 a broken vacuum line near the transfer case was the culprit.
