How to start your Ram with your finger

I was going to post this in a thread on 4.7l forum as a response but it applies to all gen 4 rams (I think).

You can start your truck by holding the key flush against the ignition and turning the switch with your finger. Just to prove this wasent some sort of gimmick with someone offscreen using a remote start unit or something I put it in drive and pull forward so you can see the engine doesnt just cut back out.

That will be great for a vallet type thing if you dont wish to give them access to your keys..... give them a hollowed out dummy key. When its turned off they cant restart it!

It's also good if you have an ST like mine and don't have remote locks. I can start the engine that way and leave it running but lock the doors behind me. Good for warming on the truck on cold mornings or if I need to run in to work and my wife wanted to wait in the truck with the heat on but I need to take the keys.

Very interesting. Whatever gave you the idea to try this?

I'm a biologist and I knew that "microchip" keys were actually just PIT tags (passive integrated transponders) such as what they use to "microchip" dogs and cats. I noticed when starting my truck one day that the truck auto cranks (feature called tip start according to randy) when you turn the key, even if you don't hold it. I also saw on the forum here that most gen 4 rams have to traditional key component sticking out of them precluding the possibility of the ignition switch using a traditional double sided waffer tumber lock.

In the end I just decided to try it and see what happens.

That's what prompted me to shoot and post the video, but I figure it out and first tried it months ago.
