Is there any way?

to keep the engine cover (that says dodge 4.7 blah blah blah) intact when you install in aftermarket intake kit? I see that every time someone has an intake kit installed they have to get rid of that cover and imo it leaves the engine looking kinda bare and ugly. Anybody know about if and how you can do this?

I guess you could cut it and fab the intake tube through the air hat if Im understanding what your talking about right

yeah thats exactly what im talking about, it would take some custom fab work though huh?

To say the least. I don't think there is enough room in the existing hat for a reasonably freeflowing tube. I'm afraid the hat on the 4.7 is find of a losing proposition if you want to free up the intake. If you come up with something more power to you (and definitely post pics) but I don't see that working out.

The idea of getting a new intake is actually to get rid of that part! The resonator hat is full of baffles and such that disrupt & restrict the flow of air to the motor. I tend to like the look of the engine better with the hat off. It exposes the intake manifold, and when you see an aftermarket intake tube, you know it's made for performance, not looks...... but to each his own :)

the only way you could do it is to install a CAI of some sort.. either a full kit or a DIY like this: http://www.ramforumz.com/showthread.php?t=74933

and then take the resonator hat and gut the inside and bottom out with a dremel and just sit it on top of the CAI. it would take alot of trimming and smoothing out the edges to make it look right but I guess it is possible.

I would have to agree with bigorange... The first time i looked inside the stock airbox i couldnt believe all the baffles and air restrictions!! My new CAI looks great under the hood and more importantly performs great under my Foot!!!

^^^^^ awe yeah!!!

with just the tube, it looks like an engine. if you want to use the box, dremel the bottom so it just covers the cai tube
