rear axle play

pulled my wheel of and noticed that the axle moved in and out alot about 1 inch.maybe more.whats do ya think and how do i fix it.99 1500 corp 9.25.did many come with this diff tow pack or what.thanks for any help.

I presume you have the 9.25 axle and I'm scratching my head and trying to figure out how that's even possible without the axle coming all the way out. If the c-clip has come out, the axle should slide all the way out of the housing.

ya it,s the 9.25 oops.i dont know how its not falling out.me think this is not good what to do man

Yup, mine does it. That's why I put off doing the back brakes. New Yukon axles and all new bearings are on their way as we speak. If it's flopping that much the axles have got to be crap, though I admit I didn't even look. Just wrote them off.

I just checked my 1998 today, and it has the same issue. The hub/drum assembly on both sides moves in and out about 1/4", and I think the spec is like .10".

Is is the clip or the axle itself that is worn, or both? Someone mentioned there may be an adjustment in the 9.25 to take up some of this slop, can anyone confirm or refute this?
