naked chrome clads

anyone remove the chrome clad part to see what the metal part of the wheel looks like? got a pic?

GTyankee 02-27-2011 10:15 PM

a few members broke the plastic chrome off to paint them, they are bonded on real good, some people have decided to just get the wheel powder coated, right over the plastic

Any pics of the powder coated wheel jobs?

i saw the pics after one was taken off, it was put right back on...you cant work with it....none of the welds are cleaned or smoothed,

Have many people had much luck with painting them? I know that gravel chews it up but would putting heavy clear coat on it make much difference? Just curious.

I'm toying with the idea of custom coloring my clads and have posted a thought to my gallery. Thinking of grabbing a can or two of duplicolor's Shadow and tinting the center spokes to appear like black chrome. I will post pictures if I take the plunge.

I have also been curious as to what they looked like with out the clad.

how would you powdercoat the chrome clad rims???? arent they chrome plated plastic? and i thought on chrome rims you would have to sand down the chrome to powdercoat which would expose the plastic? somebody correct me if im wrong which i may be.
